Yesterday (11/4) was the last day of NJ fall turkey season. Because of my adventures with my bow, I decided to take the shotgun out turkey hunting in the morning. I heard turkeys, but I saw none by 8:30 AM and headed home for my kids’ soccer game.
My fall turkey hunting season was over. Instead, I went deer hunting at Supawna National Wildlife Refuge in the afternoon. And, wouldn’t you know it? I am in my deer stand 10 minutes, and I see one turkey fly down in front of me. After she landed, 12 more turkeys walked right past my stand. Can you believe it? No turkeys while turkey hunting, and no deer while deer hunting. Instead, you get turkeys while deer hunting and deer while turkey hunting!!! Since turkeys are off-limits at Supawna, all I could do was smile.
To make matters worse, I saw no deer. Ugh.
