With the cooler temperatures and frost warning forecast for tonight, it looks like fall has finally arrived around Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. I have a New Jersey fall turkey permit, for which the fall turkey season opens tomorrow.
I went out scouting this evening and saw some good turkey sign, but no turkeys. I want to hunt in the morning before work, but I have a 9:00 meeting that will prevent me from doing so. Maybe Tuesday will be better. However, with this ridiculous change in daylight savings time, I am getting screwed out of an hour of hunting time! Since we have not changed the clocks yet, it doesn’t get light in the morning until about 7:15. This does not help me when I am trying to hunt turkeys (or deer, for that matter) before work!
Speaking of deer, it looks like the rut is beginning around here. I have seen a lot of solitary bucks on the move, so hopefully hunting will improve. After we change the clocks next week, I hope to be out in the morning more with hopes of getting a nice buck.
