I have heard buzz about Cabela’s possibly coming to Delaware for the past five years or so, but now it is official. According to a release issued this morning, Cabela’s plans to open a 110,000-suare-foot store near the Christiana Mall in Christiana, Delaware.
The store, expected to open in 2014, will be built in Cabela’s trademark style and will surround customers in the outdoors experience, including wildlife and outdoors memorabilia displays. Like other Cabela’s store, the Christiana location will feature thousands of outdoor products, a Gun Library, Bargain Cave, and Fudge Shop.
“It’s always exciting announcing plans for a new store, but there’s added enthusiasm today because it’s Cabela’s first in Delaware,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer. “Knowing there are thousands of outdoor enthusiasts across the region, people who share Cabela’s passion for hunting, fishing and outdoor adventure, we’ve had our eye on Delaware for a long time. Now it’s time to deliver a premier retail experience.”
I believe I speak for many Delaware hunters when I say, “Yes, Mr. Milner. It is about time.”
Let the countdown begin.
