“What the hell kind of headline is this?” you may be asking. Well, it’s complicated.
On Thanksgiving morning, I was driving to my parents’ house. My wife and kids were following me in another vehicle, since they were planning to stay the night. About 5 minutes from my house, on southbound Interstate 95, I saw a speeding car in my rearview mirror weaving in and out of traffic. My wife and I were in the left lane about 100 yards apart, and there was a car between us in the right lane. I saw the speeding car cut in front of my wife, then speed up directly behind me. The car then tried to pass me on the right, but must have realized there wasn’t enough room between me and the car in the right lane. The driver, going substantially faster than my 60 mph, lost control, started fishtailing, and hit the rear of my car.
The rear-end collision caused my car to fishtail. I fought the car and almost straightened it out — until the other driver hit me AGAIN, this time on the passenger side of my car. I spun out and ended up on the right shoulder facing oncoming traffic.
My side curtain airbags deployed, my right side went numb, and I was looking out of the windshield at my hysterical wife and kids who witnessed the entire thing. I called 911, and within minutes, police and emergency medical personnel were on the scene.
I could move my limbs, but I had pain in my neck and back, and I had numbness down my right arm. As I was being loaded into the ambulance, I saw the Delaware State Police officer walking the handcuffed young woman driver past me. Apparently (allegedly), the driver failed a breathalizer and was driving drunk at 9:30 in the morning.
Truly thankful to be alive on Thanksgiving, I went to the hospital and got X-rays and muscle relaxers. I spent the rest of the day in bed.

Since Thanksgiving, I have been to my doctor twice and had a MRI. My neck and back still hurt daily, and what’s worse, I seem to have a migraine every day. Ugh.

DELAWARE WOODCOCK HUNT 12/3
Curt Barkus and I hunted Delaware woodcock on December 3, and Gus (my vizsla) enabled us each to harvest a limit by 11:00 AM. It was a great hunt. We found a large group of birds in the woods on the edge of a sapling patch, and shooting was fast and furious.
However, I paid for the hunt with a migraine.

Brandywine Hundred Rod and Gun Club Bird Release Hunt 12/6
We stocked chukars and pheasants at my gun club on Saturday. I came home with a pheasant and 3 chukars, and Gus found about 20 birds for other hunters. It was a successful and fun hunt, but again, I had a migraine afterward and the following day.
I think that wearing a shooting vest loaded with shells and birds puts pressure on my neck, which is causing migraines ever since the accident. Let’s just hope things get better.
