We had a busy day at the blind. First thing, we had a pair of
ostriches come in. I thought about shooting the male, but then I was
told by the PH that we can’t shoot ostriches on that site.
A ton of warthogs came throughout the day, and four female kudu showed
up twice.
Around 11:00 am this beautiful blue wildebeest bull showed up. He
never presented a broadside shot, so I took a quartering away shot. I
aimed for the far side shoulder and shot. The arrow went in about 12
inches, and we heard it the far shoulder. He took off running,
crashing trees as he ran. We tracked almost immediately. After 80
yards, I saw him on the ground with his head still up. I moved in for
another shot, but the bull tried to stand, swayed, and fell. He
expired soon after. No need for another shot.
